Qatar promising athletics stars Moataz Barsham and Mohamed Al-Qarni could succeed to qualify to the finals of the IAAF World Junior Championship going on currently in the Canadian city of Moncton, N,B. Moataz performed excellently in the high jump events recording 2.17, while Al-Qarni succeeded in the 1500m ev
ents with finishing time of 3:41:99. Moataz will compete today in the finals of the high jump with hopes to achieve a remarkable result to Qatar as he did in the Asian Championship where he recorded and had the world record of 2.31. On the other hand, Al-Qarni will compete after tomorrow in the 1500m event. It is worth mentioning that the Qatari delegation to this sporting event includes Mr. Abdullah Al-Zaini QAAF president, Mr. Khalifa Abdulmalik (team manager), Mohamed Suleiman (Adminstartor), Mr. Jama Aden (mid-distances events coach), Mr. Stanso Stezerba (high jump event coach), Mr. Oaf Hox (110 hr event coach), Mr. Ramel (decathlon coach), and Mr. Sregi (massager). The Qatari competitors participating in this world athletics event are: Moataz Barsham (high jump), Mohamed Al-Qarni (1500m and 800m), Khalid Saeed (jump events), Hamza Dariyosh and Saif Sabah (800m), and Mohamed Al-Manaie (decathlon).
