Qatar Makes Remarkable Results in the Asian Athletics Juniors Championship Print E-mail

* On 3rd Day: Qatar Got  1st  Rank in the Asian Athletics Championship for Juniors,
But On 4th Day: China Tops with Extra Silver Medals

* QAAF President Al-Zaini Presents This Achievement to His Highness the Emir and the Heir Apparent of Qatar

 
 Qatari athletics team recorded a remarkable achievement by winning the 2nd rank in the Asian Athletics Championship for juniors, which was held in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi for the period from July 1 to 4. China won the title with extra silver but 4 gold like Qatar. Qatar could obtain (4) gold medals and one silver, and an Asian record by
Moataz Iesa with 31.2 M, the best achievement in the world in the high jump for juniors in this season,  behind him came the silver medalist Chinese Zhank Jui, who passed the bar at a height of 23.2 m. Mohammed Ahmed also claimed the second gold medal in the decathlon with 7078 points, and Mohamed Karni won the third gold medal in the 1500 with a time of 3:55:28 minutes. Al Karni also added the fourth gold medal in the 800 m event with a time of 1:48:13 minutes, while his fellow Hamza Daryoush came behind him scoring the silver medal against the champion Nashi, who tops the best runners of the world in the 800-meter for junior as classified by the IAAF.  Badr Hashim Khamis ranked fifth in the final pole vault competitions . Juniors Athletics had been in two international training camps in Sweden and Portugal recently prior their current participation in Vietnam campaign. They will also participate in the World Juniors Championship in Canada which will be held from 19 to 23 August 2010 where they are expected to achieve good results.

 
QAAF President Mr. Abdullah Al-Zini presented this achievement to His Highness the Emir and the Heir Apparent of Qatar – President of the Qatar Olympic Committee - stressing that this achievement is proof of the proper approach path trodden by QAAF based on the principle of enhancing the national teams and will strengthen this approach through the amendments made by the QAAF on the athletes and local championships regulations and giving attention and focus on the national athletes to motivate and encourage them to participate and reach the best achievements.


Mr. Adel Al-Baker QAAF Secretary General said that our athletes are among the best ones in the world which is an indication that the Qatari athletics is moving in the right path and we expect them to claim more achievements in the coming events. Mr. Khalifa Abdullah, director of national teams has emphasized that the results achieved in the Asian Championship in the high jump and in 1500m and the 800 m will help us achieve an advanced position in these competitions at the world championships next month in Canada.
