Mussab Balla Embraces Silver in the 800m & Al-Manaie Ranked 4th in the High Jump Print E-mail

Qatar’s natinal team continued winning medals in the Asian Indoor Championship hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran during the period from 24-26 February 2010. The promising athletis star Moataz Iesa seized the spotlight and clinched the gold medal in the final of the high jump events, setting a good result of (2.20 m), while Rashid Al-Manaei’s result in the same event reached (2.17 m) to rank him 4th. On the other hand,  Musab Balla embraced the silver medal of the 2nd rank in the 800m event clocking (54:36), which raised Qatar’s medals tally to (5) medals, including (3) gold and (2) silver. Meanwile, the challenge continyes tonight in the final round of the pole vault events involving the Qatari promising champion Badr Hashim, and the final of the 1500m where Ali Kamal Abubaker and Mohammed Karni will take part. It is worth mentioning this championship witnesed a record turnout of participiants represented by "24" countries: Bahrain , China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, and Qatar.

60m pentathlon, trithlon final, high jump pentathlon, 1500 final, 400m final, shot put-pentathlon, long jump- pentathlon, 4 x 400 relay final, and 800m pentathlon.

Mr. Iesa Al-Harami: Qatar champions did their best and our future results will be better


Mr. Iesa Al Harami, assistant general secretary of the QAAF and head of the Qatari delegation in this championship, congradulated the Qatari champions for making these victories and achievements. He  stressed that it did not come out of a vacuum but the results are due to the unlimited support that we receive from the Olympic committee officials and the encouragment of the QAAF president Mr.  Abdullah Al-Zaini and the the Board of Directors. Mr. AL-Harami expected that the process of Qatari success will continue in Asian Indoor Champioship in Iran where Qatari athletics stars will gain morse achievements at the end of the championship tonight.
