Qatar Association of Athletics Federation

The Board of Directors of the QAAF held its third meeting in the sports season 2009 – 2010, at seven o'clock Sunday 7 February 2010 at the headquarters of the federation. The meeting was attended by the following:

1 – HE. Abdullah Ahmad Al-Zaini, QAAF President
2 - Mr.   Adel Al Baker, Secretary General
3 - Mr.   Essa Abdullah Al Harami, Assistant Secretary General
4 - Mrs. Mariam Abdullah Al Isihaq, Board Member
5 - Mr.   Khalifa Yusuf Abdul Malik, Executive Director of QAAF
6 - Dr.   Jabbar Al-Kaabi, Technical Expert of QAAF
7 - Mr.   Mohamed Shuaib Abdul Razak, Reporter

His Excellency Abdullah Al-Zaini, QAAF President, inaugurated the meeting by welcoming the board members of QAAF. He stressed on the need to exert the maximum effort, especially for the IAAF World Indoor Championships which will be held next month in Aspire where (162) countries will participate represented by 1270 competitors, administrative and technical staff members. Mr. Al-Zaini also stressed on the coming athletics indoor meeting for the youth to be held on February 26, 2010. He emphasized that these two tournaments require from QAAF officials to unite and coordinate and work hard to fulfill QAAF mission at the best.

QAAF president then reviewed the agenda of the meeting, which included:

1 – Ratification of the minutes of the second meeting of the sports season 2009 to 2010

2 – Assigning Mr. Mohamed Taher the duties of working with Dr. Jabbar Al-Kaabi - the technical expert of QAAF- in the local competitions, attending the meetings of the technical committee, and the committee of athletes and clubs' affairs. After discussions, the proposal was ratified.

3 - Discussing the action plan of the Technical Committee. After discussions, His Excellency the President suggested that to the Board members to consider the proposal presented by Mrs. Maryam Abdullah Al-Isihaq to provide suggestions and comments during a week.

4 - Formation of the Organizing Committee for the Diamond League. 
His Excellency the President of QAAF reviewed the organizational structure of the Diamond League and after few amendments it was approved.

5 - Discussing the resignation case of the athlete Mohammed Issa Al-Thawadi. After discussions, Mr. Khalifa Yousef Abdul-Malik was assigned to speak with this athlete and find the best ways and solutions that serve the athlete and the national team.

Moreover, Mr. Adel Al Baker, QAAF Secretary General, reviewed the most important points in the minutes of the meeting of QOC federations' secretary generals with His Excellency the Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani. At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the President of QAAF wished the attendees and QAAF staffs the best of luck and success in their administrative and technical duties.
