In his preparation for the coming international challenge of the IAAF World Indoor Championships - Doha 2010, Qatar's Saif Saeed Shaheen, the double world champion (Paris, 2003 / Helsinki, 2005) and world record holder for 3000 m steeplechase races, won the title of the Karlsruhe Indoor Tournament in Germany, February 2010, in his first official indoor participation since the World Championships in 2006 in Moscow. The pleasing return of Saif Saaeed Shaheen marked a reasonable winning of the 3000m in a world-lead of 7:43.44, 5 seconds ahead of Kenyan Joseph Kepplimo, who finished second, clocking 7:49:08 minutes and Shadrack Korir placed third in 7:49:13 min. In the women’s equivalent, world 5000m silver medalist Sylvia Kibet pulled away from Russian No.1 Anna Alminova in the final kilometer. The Kenyan set a world-lead of 8:41.24 to Alminova’s 8:47.57. Thus, Shaheen's victory and excellence confirms his good preparations for the IAAF World Indoor Championship to be hosted in Doha during 12-14 March 2010, along with a group of elite Qatari champions who continue currently their preparations in several training camps in the European continent.
