AL-SADD TOPS ATHLETICS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP IN ALL CATEGORIES Print E-mail

Al Sadd Sports Club dominated over other athletics clubs, in the categories of juniors' and men's athletics indoor championship, which was held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (18, 19, 20 / 1 / 2010)  at Aspire Academy of Sports Excellence, and after a series of victories, ended at the top of the ranking order of cadets' competitions, as it is the case in the mini-cadets and juniors final ranking orders during the past weeks. The Board Members of the QAAF witnessed the triumph of Al Sadd juniors who managed to collect (134) points, while Al Gharafa the first runner-up, collect (72) points, and in the third place was Al Rayyan with a total of (55) points. This competition witnessed  4 national records breaking  first by Al Rayyan athlete Saif Sabah Khair Allah (8.37 sec in 60m hurdles), the second record by Badr Hashim Khamis also from Al-Rayyan Club (4.50m in pole vault). Then, Badr Awadh Khamees from Al-Sadd Club achieved the third record , while the fourth record was achieved by Maaz Abdul Rahman Bella from Qatar Sports Club(1:54.60 min in 800 m).

The men's competition witnessed the pursuit of excellence between Al Rayyan and Al Sadd Sports Clubs which had continued for three days. Al Rayyan was in the leading position during the first and second days but in the third day Al Saad dominated the top of the competitions leaving Al  Rayan as its first runner up. Where its athletes completed the championship  gathering 117 points, the collection of Al Rayyan reached 102 points. Hence, the athletes of Al Sadd Sports Club won all titles of ATHLETICS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP in all mini-cadets, cadets, youth, juniors, and men competitions. Alwaleed Abdulla from  Qatar Club was able to break the Qatari record in the indoor long jump, recording (7.11 m). At the end of the competition, Mr. Issa Al Harami, Assistant Secretary General of the QAAF, the technical observer of the championship, and the Board members submitted the cups to the winners of the first three ranks in men and juniors competitions.
