THE QAAF COMMITTE OF ATHLETES AND TEAMS HOLDS ITS 1ST MEETING Print E-mail

The QAAF committee of athletes and teams held its 1st meeting in the 2009-2010 sports season. the meeting was held in the headquarters of QAAF at 10 AM on 17 January 2010. The following members attended the meeting:

The meeting discussed the agenda which included the assessment of the cross country championships as well as other athletics championships administratively, technically and organizationally. The representatives of the clubs proposed not to set up cross-country championship for the juniors on the same day of the men events and the need to refer to the previous organizational approach where they were held with the cadets tournaments. They also presented a re-consideration of the evaluation points for the shield of excellence of the champions of cross-country and reduce the number of cadets competitions and reduce the number of years of the resident athletes in the mini-cadets and cadets category (five years to three years) and review the levels of the qualifying competitions and tournaments, especially in mini-cadets and cadets cups in Qatar where participants are only Qataris. Also they proposed to increase the amount of financial supports for athletics clubs like the other federations, and to increase the salaries of coaches of athletics clubs who train five age groups at the same time. It is worth mentioning that the committee of athletes and clubs was set up to present views and ideas, perceptions and suggestions and observations of the clubs to be discussed by the committee and then forward these proposals to the technical committee in the QAAF to discuss and formulate its recommendations for submission to the Board of Directors. At the end of the meeting, the head of the committee wished all the attendees all the best of luck and scheduled the next meeting to be on 31 January 2010.
